Keeping Bad Luck Away from Your Email Campaign

Tomorrow’s Friday the 13th – a notoriously unlucky day when it’s wise to avoid black cats and walking under ladders.

While AWeber can’t ward off any personal bad luck, we have some precautions you can take to make sure that no misfortunes befall your email marketing campaign.

Direct from our Customer Solutions team, here are three easy ways to bolster your campaign against bad luck today (and every day!)

Test Your Messages

“A lot of people don’t realize they can test. It’s so easy to test your messages before you send them. You’ll catch a lot more errors if you test first.” - Kevin McCreary

You can avoid the curse of bad links and broken images by taking a minute to send a test copy of your message to yourself before delivering it to your entire list. This small extra step will help you address any kinks in your email so you can avoid the embarrassment of apologizing later.

Use HTML and Plain Text Together

“Including plain text is not just about your subscribers being able to read it. Your message is more deliverable if you use both plain text and HTML.” - Kim Robbins

If you want to up your email’s chances of landing in the inbox instead of the spam folder, send a plain text and HTML version of your email together. Most email programs can display HTML messages, but not all of them can. Sending both types together lets the email program choose which to display for your customer.

Make Your Readers Feel Special

- Anthony Acquaviva

Treat your email subscribers right and they’ll feel more appreciated by you. Personalizing your emails spans everything from placing their first name in the subject line to customizing message content based on their preferences – which you can learn about in a number of ways .

The more tailored and personalized your messages, the better your chances of keeping your customers interested in what you have to say. The more interested they are, the more they’ll open and read your emails. Kindling good relationships through personalized emails is the ultimate good luck charm.
